Lawn Tractors

Lawn tractors and lawn mowers are not the same thing. You ride on the tractors while mowing the grass, while lawn mowers are push models that you walk behind. They can be wither electric, battery powered or gas powered. There are many manufacturers that make both tractors and mowers. All the tractors do basically the same work, but some models may have more features on them than others. When you buy a tractor, you do need to consider the size of your lawn. For example, you would not need one of these large machines if you only have a small yard or lawn.

If you want a tractor for the sole purpose of mowing the grass, then you will only need a front bed tractor. This model collects the grass as you mow it so you don't have to rake it up afterwards. If you want to do other small jobs in the garden, then you might want to consider a garden tractor with an attachment for mowing the grass.

The maximum sweep of the blades on a tractor is 48 inches. If you get something with larger blades you will find it very hard to manage. You will be unable to maneuver in tight place or turn tight corners. If you do have money enough to buy a tractor for mowing the grass, you might as well spend a bit extra and buy a garden tractor. Then you have the equipment you need for all sorts of chores, even plowing snow in the winter.

Whichever one you decide to buy, you do have to try it out first to make sure it is comfortable. If you are going to be spending a lot of time riding the tractor, you need to have a comfortable seat and be able to reach the gears easily.
